Whether you would like art for yourself or someone special, portraiture or other commissioned work is unique, personal, and lasting. My work focuses on capturing a person's essence - a vision of you or your desired subject expressed on canvas.
I begin the process with a conversation with the subject. Answers to my questions help the direction of the portrait -- from colors, hobbies and interests, to settings and poses.
The portraits I create are mixed-media, combining photography, paint and other materials onto canvas. Portraits may include existing photos. Most often, I photograph the subject either in my studio, or at a location of your choice. The process is flexible. Typically, portraits take a minimum of 4-5 weeks to complete, from start to delivery.
My process invites a collaborative approach, especially in the early development stage.
